GLOBE VALVE

Description: This is a ridged, circular metal handle on a vertical stem set into a globelike assembly.

Buying information: The globe valve operates like a faucet. It has a stem inside, on the end of which is a washer that presses against a seat to close and open water flow.

How-to hint: The letter L or R or arrows will be stamped on a globe valve, which tells you which way to install it according to water flow, so that when it is in the off position, the water may be drained out of the other side of the valve, facing vent, cap down.
