Buying information: Cutoff valves come in a number of sizes, but all do the same job: control water flow. On sinks and lavatories there are two stop valves, one for hot and one for cold water, while on a toilet there is only one -- it controls water supply to the tank.
Stop valves have the internal mechanism of globe valves; washer and seat are replaceable.
