STANDARD AND BRACKET, SHELF SUPPORTS
Description: This consists of two pieces of hardware, a slotted vertical section that mounts on the wall and brackets in various shapes that mount, by means of hooked ends, onto the standard. Buying information: Standards and brackets come in various sizes, characterized by bracket width, which can range from 4 to 18 inches, in 2-inch increments. They come in various configurations for every decor. The big plus of this hardware is that the brackets can be moved up and down along the standard, increasing or decreasing shelf height as required. Sometimes the standards and brackets of different manufacturers are interchangeable, but in most instances you must use the same brand. How-to hint: See utility bracket, above. If you are using standards and brackets to support something very heavy, such as a TV, don't use other fasteners: find the studs and drive screws into them. |
