Buying information: Utility brackets are, as the name suggests, for utility. They are mounted on the walls and shelving laid across them. They are usually gray, but also come in gold and black.
How-to hints: For strength, try to find wall studs and mount brackets on them with screws. In newer homes, studs are 16 inches apart, while in older homes they are usually 24 inches apart. If the studs are not located where you need them to be, use hollow-wall fasteners or another appropriate type, making sure they can support the weight of the shelf and its contents.
