Buying information: Flush valve seats are of two kinds. One type is installed in a hole in the tank, and the tank rests on a short piece of pipe that is connected to the bowl. In the other situation the tank sits directly on the back of the bowl; this is called a close-coupled toilet.
How-to hint: Installing a new seat in a tank connected to a flush elbow is difficult to do and should only be attempted by the experienced person; replacing a valve on a close-coupled toilet is much easier.
