SPIRAL NAIL
Description: There are two types. One has annular spiral threads and comes in 1-inch and 1 1/4-inch lengths. The other is fluted and has a spiral head and is longer, 2 1/2 or 3 inches. Buying information: These nails have tenacious gripping power -- they turn as they are driven. They cost half as much as screws and are twice-as fast to use. The first type is used to secure hardboard underlayment, and the other is used when the underlayment is waferboard, which is thicker and therefore requires a longer nail. It is also used for textured hardboard siding. How-to hint: Use a hammer, not an electric drill. |
