BIFOLD CLOSET DOOR HARDWAREDescription: Several different pieces of hardware are used on a bifold door: track; a U-shaped bracket for aligning the doors at the bottom; an L-shaped socket that accepts a pivot on the door; hinges (mortise or butt style); and a "snubber," a spring device that helps keep the door closed. Buying information: Closet door hardware comes in kit form containing all the parts necessary to install a door. Handles are usually not supplied. Hinges are usually brass-plated. Use butt rather than mortise (recessed) hinges if the door will be used frequently. How-to hint: This is a very difficult door to hang. Installation instructions are normally supplied. |
