STEEL-INTERLOCKING WEATHER STRIPDescription: These are two U-shaped metal strips with lips meant to interlock when installed. Buying information: One strip is installed on the door, the other on the frame. When the door is closed the strips interlock, providing protection against the weather and burglars. How-to hint: This is very difficult to install properly: special tools are required. SERRATED FELT/METAL WEATHER STRIP Description: These are strips of felt encased in metal. Buying information: This seals gaps around windows and doors. It is not pretty, but it does the job -- and it's cheap. How-to hint: Nail in place using very small nails that come with it. To ease the job, use a brad driver, a device that allows you to push the nails in place rather than having to hammer them. |
