CUP HOOK
Description: This looks like a screw hook except that it has a plate or shoulder between the shank and the hook. It commonly comes in a 1/2-inch size (the diameter of the hooked part), but can be purchased in 1 3/8-inch and 1 1/2-inch sizes. It is almost always made of brass.
Buying information: Cup hooks are for hanging cups (under shelves). They can also be used for hanging keys and Christmas tree lights. The plate or shoulder prevents the hook from being driven in too far.
How-to hint: Since cup hooks are made of soft brass, they are easier to install if you first make a pilot hole with an awl.
