OVERFLOW TUBE, TOILET TANK PARTS
Description: This is 10 inches long, made of brass or plastic. Usually 1 inch in diameter, it can also be found in 1 1/8-inch and 1 1/4-inch sizes, and threaded at one end.
Buying information: Brass overflow tubes come in various gauges; the heavier gauges last much longer than the thinner gauges.
How-to hints: Plastic overflow tubes work well, but only on new work. They are difficult to screw in where a brass tube has been. Brass is a better choice, but, before screwing it in place, make sure all remnants of the old overflow tube are gone from the threads. To ensure a watertight seal, apply pipe joint compound before screwing the tube in place.
