Description: These look like standard fittings, but are made of plastic.

Buying information: PVC fittings are used on cold-water pipe or drainpipe, CPVC is used on hot-water pipe, and ABS is used on drainpipe. These kinds of pipe are assembled with a solvent that actually melts the plastic and welds the fitting and pipe end together. It acts very quickly, so it's important first to assemble the fittings and pipe dry, and mark where they are to align and the depth that the pipe is to penetrate the fitting. Then, when you assemble them with the wet solvent applied, you can do it with little fear that you'll get it wrong and have to tear things apart and start over.
