TRUSS FASTENER, FRAMING FASTENERS
Description: This is a flat metal plate with holes for nailing, or with built-in barbs. Buying information: As the name implies, it is good for assembly of trusses, where it eliminates the need for plywood gussets; it is also useful in connecting horizontal and vertical framing members. How-to hints: To use the nailing type, position the plate so that it overlaps the members to be joined and then simply nail it on, using the nails provided. The same thing is done with the barbed type, except a special tool is sometimes needed. To create a smooth surface for Sheetrock or the like later, cut a shallow channel for the fastener so it is flush with the surface. |
