Description: This comes in various gauges and looks like NM. But unlike NM, the wires are encased in plastic rather than just being inside a sleeve of insulation.
Buying information: This is a highly abrasion-resistant material and is waterproof. As such, it is designed for burial in the ground and can tolerate temperature extremes and frost heaving. It can also withstand a blow, such as from a shovel.
How-to hint: As with NM cable, you can use a cable ripper to remove the jacket, but only if you are an experienced do-it-yourselfer.
