Buying information: This type of lock is useful when some degree of security is wanted on, say, a bedroom door. Pushing the button locks the door. Many of these locks come with a special key or rod that enables them to be opened from the outside -- handy if a child locks him- or herself inside a room. If there is no key or rod, sometimes a stiff bit of wire or a length of coat hanger will do.
