DUCT TAPE
Description: This is gray metallic tape that comes in rolls, usually 2 inches wide and 60 yards long, but also in 30-yard rolls.
Buying Information: This is an all-purpose tape for sealing ducts, smoke pipes (though not stove pipes) and temporary drain repairs, taping off glass to protect it against shattering, taping down wires. . . the list goes on. Duct tape comes in various grades, but hardware stores normally carry only good-quality material.
How-to hints: Strong as it is, pieces of duct tape can be torn off the roll by hand. Keep it out of the sun, and, if carried in the car, out of the glove compartment. A good spot is in a paper bag under a seat.
