EPOXY, MASONRY PATCHERSDescription: This is a two-part material consisting of a powder and a liquid. Buying information: Epoxy comes in quarts and gallons. It is used wherever great strength is required, such as to patch glass and steel and to set patio and paving stones. Because it is compliant like concrete, it makes an excellent material for sidewalk joints. How-to hint: To create a neat bead of epoxy, apply masking tape on both sides of the joint to be filled, and peel off the tape immediately after application. LATEX PATCHER/WATERPROOFING SURFACE COMPOUND, MASONRY PATCHERS Description: This comes as a powder and a liquid that are mixed together before use. Buying information: It is excellent for patching pockmarked concrete walks as well as resetting loose slates and tiles. How-to hints: This material can be thinned to brushing-on consistency, making it good as a resurfacer. It dries white, much lighter than regular concrete, so it is usually a good idea to use it over a broad area rather than as a patch, where its color would make it stand out. |
