BUTYL RUBBER CAULK
NOTE: Before applying any caulk, scrape the joint clean.
Description: This, too, comes in cartridges, but only in white or gray.
Buying information: Butyl is excellent for use with masonry where there is a lot of movement, such as along the joint between the house wall and the patio slab or cement walls. It is also good for filling cracks in sidewalk.
How-to hint: Butyl caulk will stick to just about anything; once a bead is laid down, it should be left as is. If you try to smooth it, it will stick to the applicator. In sum, it's a difficult material.
