CARPENTER'S GLUE, ADHESIVESDescription: This is a fairly heavy but pourable yellow glue that dries fairly clear. Buying information: Yellow glue is strong and heat-resistant, with good gap-filling properties, and is ordinarily the glue for woodworkers. It sets in 30 minutes, and no clamping is required. How-to hints: If you buy a large container you can make a good applicator for yellow glue with a small, empty jar and an acid-paste brush. Make a hole in the lid for the brush, stick it in the lid, then fill the jar with glue. Every time you want to apply glue, just swab it on with the brush. The glue will stay fresh and you'll have some precision in application. Take care when applying glue not to get it on areas of the wood that are to be stained. The stain won't take where glue has spilled because the wood pores will be clogged with glue residue. |
